Alert mode

This can be either in "infiltration" or "discovered" mode.

• Infiltration mode
  The normal state, when the enemy has not discovered you.
• Discovered mode
  The enemy goes into discovered mode when they spot you.
• Back to infiltration mode

Escaping discovered mode

If you're discovered, enemies will storm you and start aggressively attacking. Try to avoid being spotted as you proceed. There are different ways to get out of discovered mode, depending on how you were spotted.

1.

If "!" appears above the enemy when they find you, only the enemies currently onscreen will attack. Defeat them all or move to another screen, and you'll go back into infiltration mode.

2.

If "!!" appears above the enemy, or you're spotted by a camera or sensor, more enemies will rush in from offscreen, continuing to chase you if you go to another screen. You'll go back into infiltration mode after defeating a set number of enemies or going to another area via an elevator, etc.
