Camera

There are five different camera modes to choose from, enabling you to maximize the tension and excitement of your stealth mission. Study each mode to know which one to use where.

Third-Person View

By selecting "Third-Person View" from "Camera Mode" in the Options menu, you can use to freely move the camera position up, down, left, and right.
You can also press to switch to an overheard camera.

  • Note there are some stages where you cannot use Third-Person View.

Overhead View

By selecting "Normal" from "Camera Mode" in the Options menu, the default camera position will be mostly above Snake, looking down. Generally, the top of the screen faces north (with some exceptions).
If the Camera Mode is set to Third-Person View, you can press to switch to the Third-Person View camera.

Corner View

Check your surroundings while remaining hidden.

Hold / while facing a wall or tree to press yourself against it and move the camera to see beyond the object. To change the direction of the camera, use .
Pressing or while behind a wall or tree will let you peek around it and better survey your surroundings. However, note that you run the risk of being spotted while peeking.

First Person View

The camera will switch to Snake's perspective as long as you are pressing .

During First Person View, you can change the direction of the camera with /. Press or to take a step to the left or right. Press and at the same time to stand on your tiptoes. You cannot move while in First Person View, but you can press to use your equipped weapon. First Person View attacks are useful for aiming at an enemy's critical points, or other situations that require pinpoint accuracy. The / input method can be changed under Settings in the Options menu.

Intrusion View

When you find yourself in narrow spaces...

When crawling through narrow spaces or overgrown grass, the camera will automatically switch to Snake's perspective. Use to move normally and to move to the side. To look around, press and hold and use to move the camera. Press and at the same time to stand on your toes.
