Alert Mode

This can be either in "infiltration" or "discovered" mode.

• Infiltration mode
  The normal state, when the enemy has not discovered you.
• Discovered mode
  The enemy goes into discovered mode when they spot you.
• Back to infiltration mode

When Spotted by the Enemy

If you're discovered, enemies will storm you and start aggressively attacking. Try to avoid being spotted as you proceed.
If an enemy spots you, an alarm will sound, and more enemy soldiers will appear from offscreen. Enemies will continue to pursue you even if you move to another screen. You'll go back into infiltration mode after defeating a set number of enemies or when the enemy loses sight of you (e.g., after you enter an elevator).
