Infiltration Tips

Acquiring Items

In general, you procure equipment and weapons that will aid your stealth mission on-site.
In addition item boxes, etc., items can be found in hollow trees, lockers, under desks, and other areas. Be sure to use First Person View to examine suspicious places. Stealing from enemies is another effective way to acquire items.

Always Accept Calls

Your codec is a vital source of intel. When you get a call, you can hear explanations on controls, gameplay hints, and more. If the CALL sign is red, the call will be answered automatically, but not if it is white. Also, if you're stuck and unsure where to go next, try using the codec to ask for advice.

Try to Avoid Trouble

Once you engage the enemy in battle after being spotted, they will call for backup in order to take down Snake as a group. Even if you can take out multiple opponents, you'll likely suffer damage in the process. Try to avoid being spotted by enemies; use hiding spots to your advantage. Also, even if the enemy discovers you, you can prevent them from calling for backup by destroying their radio or putting them to sleep. Therefore, it's important to act quickly and decisively before things get out of hand.

Watch Your Stamina Gauge

When your stamina is low, your LIFE Gauge will replenish slower, your hands will shake more when aiming a weapon, and Snake will generally have trouble performing to the best of his abilities. Carefully check your surroundings, and capture some animals to eat while keeping an eye on your stamina and food levels.

Put Enemies to Sleep with the Tranquilizer Gun

You can use the tranquilizer gun to put enemies to sleep without killing them. Attach a suppressor and preemptively attack the enemy to avoid a confrontation altogether. The amount of time it takes to knock out an enemy depends on where you shoot them. It works faster if you use First Person View to shoot them in the head or heart. A "ZZZ" icon will be displayed above the head of sleeping enemies. The number of Zs decreases as time goes on, and the enemy will wake up once the Zs disappear.
